A mini course for your first ukulele playing.
Start from the very beginning. Tune your ukulele, learn C, add Am, practise the change, add rhythm, then bring in F and G. At the end you will connect C · Am · F · G and try your first well-known songs.
Go step by step
No skipping. Each step has one task and one clear goal.
Tune the ukulele
Before you start playing, tune the ukulele.Use G C E A tuning. A tuned ukulele is the foundation for a clean and pleasant first chord.
Open tunerLearn C
C is the ideal first chord. You hold it with one finger and immediately hear a clear ukulele sound.Place your finger on the third fret of the bottom A string. Strum all four strings slowly downwards.
Add Am
Am is the second simple one-finger chord.Place your finger on the second fret of the G string. Strum all four strings slowly downwards and listen to the difference between C and Am.
Practise C ↔ Am
This is not about speed yet. It is about calm hand movement.Play C with four down strums, then move to Am and play four down strums again. Repeat slowly until the change starts to feel natural.
Add the first rhythm
Rhythm should be steady, not fast. For now, play down strums only on every chord. Count out loud one, two, three, four and keep the same tempo.
Add F
F is the first chord where you use two fingers.Place one finger on the first fret of the E string and another on the second fret of the G string. Play slowly and check that every string rings clearly.
Add G
G is the first more difficult shape, so practise it slowly.Place your fingers in a triangle shape on the second fret of the C and A strings and the third fret of the E string. If something buzzes, adjust your fingers and try again.
Connect C · Am · F · G
Now connect everything you have learned.Play each chord with four down strums. We do not need speed. The important thing is that the chords flow calmly and cleanly into each other.
Try your first songs
When C · Am · F · G feels smooth, you can try your first real songs.Open the song list, choose an easier song and play it calmly at your own pace. It is fine to play it slowly at first – the goal is to practise chord changes, rhythm and confidence in your hands.
